“The Die is Caste”: Ranjan Kamath's powerful and at times harrowing examination of caste-based politics and violence in Bihar over the last three decades. A must-see film for anyone interested in contemporary caste relations in India.
“We Are Not Monkeys”: Anand Patwardhan's modern musical reinterpretation of the Ramayana from a Dalit perspective.
“Bioscopewallah”: A short but moving portrait of an 85 year old Dalit street entertainer in Maharashtra, at once a reminiscence and a comment on the passing of an era in the Indian imagination. Director Prashant Kadam will be in attendance.

SOLE is grateful for the opportunity to host Manuel Pujols and Julio Castillo. They are from TOS Dominicana, a textile factory owned and operated by Hanesbrand, Inc. which supplies blank t-shirts to numerous university licensees, including U of M. Recent violations at TOS Dominicana documented by the Worker's Rights Consortium, a credible independent monitoring organization, include unlawful coercion of workers to sign new employment contracts and complaint waivers reducing workers' employment rights and benefits, forced and unpaid overtime, failure to pay the legally mandated premium for work at night, verbal harassment and abuse, and the use of a range of illegal means to thwart workers' efforts to exercise their associational rights. These serious violations of domestic law and university codes of conduct will continue until sweatshop workers are given a voice. Join SOLE and our generous co-sponsors to give Manuel Pujols and Julio Castillo a chance to share their experiences and answer our questions.
