The Michigan Mars Rover Design Project was started in 2000 with two main goals: to design, build and test prototypes of Mars surface exploration vehicles and to educate students about space and Mars exploration. During the last seven years, our team has enjoyed numerous accomplishments including designing a complete rover concept for human exploration, constructing an operational prototype rover, and participating in field testing at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. Our team has also published several papers and contributed to multiple NASA design forums. You can find more details of our research and our public outreach program on our website (www.umrover.org) or e-mail us at rover@umich.edu if you have any questions.
